Question: Hi Sasha , It's Houtan again .
Well , I contacted one of the home agencies for reserving a room , in Facklan and vakteln , they told me the prices and they were very high , above 400 EU per month . How can I find a cheaper accommodation there ? And do you have any suggestion or special advice about renting a room in Eskilstuna ? When is the good time for paying and reserving a room ? Now or I can do it later ?

Sasha : Hi
Unfortunately, the accommodation price is the highest expense for all students. I mean around 60 -70% of your monthly expenses!!
And apart from Kfast, none of them would give you a apartment since you don't have Person number in Sweden. Around 15 Iranian students are here and I can say 11 of them still leaving in Kfast accommodations. So my suggestion is to start with Kfast but ask them for a short period contract. After getting your person number, search for cheaper one. If you want I can write other agencies in Eskilstuna and also cheap zone of Eskilstuna.
Nevertheless, Vakteln and Facklan are pretty expensive in compare with others. But just three international students in 2010 could get a accommodation from other agencies.
Good Luck

Question: Hi again.
Sure, no problem. I will ask the questions here. But then I would keep getting back here as I find new questions :)
Well first of all, Vasteras seems to be a small city. Does it get boring there? I'm the kind who loves adventure, skiing, horse-riding etc. Is it all there in Vasteras (or even in adjoining areas)? What else do we have there to kill time?
Something course-related now. I will be going to MDU for 1 year masters programme and I want to get the maximum out of this opportunity. Considering that 1 year is a short timespan, do you encourage me to get in contact with the instructors well before leaving for MDU? I suppose this will help me in deciding my projects by giving me ample time.
Lastly, is it easy to find apartment in Vasteras? As for food, what can those do who are vegetarian or eat halal etc. due to various religious reasons?
That's that. I will post again when I find new questions :)

Sasha : Hello back
Västerås is the 6th biggest city in Sweden and it is not boring at all. There is a international commette consist of students that provide different interesting activities for others. In addition, your new international friends won't let to get bored. There is also reasonable sport halls for students.
I can't answer your question since it depends on you..... but why not!
University cooperates with some house agents to provide student apartments for them. I am not sure, but there is at least two kind of these apartments. For food, there is lots of stores that sell Halal food and you can find them easily in the citycentral. Also chain stores like ICA, Willy:s, Hemköp etc. have Halal food. And I suppose all restaurants have vegetarian food. Don't worry about these things.... you will find some students from Pakistan that will answer all your questions in couple of hours
But start looking for apartment right now to get more chance !!
Come back with your new questions or if you need more explanation!!
Good Luck
